Had my pension invested here for close on 30 years. They have an extremely poor customer service. Whenever I try to withdraw a sum of money I’m subjected to revlews Spanish Inquisition. Nothing to do with protecting me I would suggest, more to do with them fearing litigation and therefore having this ‘wall’ erected between the customers and themselves. They even have a threatening ‘we are recording this call’ process whenever you.
The plus side is its been a very good investment, this only just outweighs the poor service. I would transfer all my funds however it’s probably more painful than suffering the poor service, and probably carries a close down charge. Enough said Shocking service from a company charging such high fees.
Standard life managed screw up a couple of trades within my Isa and Sipp which I managed to spot. The trades have both left me with a financial loss. Have rung up at least 5 times so far and have been promised a call back on two occasions, 3 weeks and counting. Shambles of a company avoid at all costs. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life and will do anything to keep from ever paying a claim. Just tried to revieds if I had a pension with them office closes at 5 and no way of emailing unless you are registered.
Looking at other reviews think I may have had a lucky escape. So shocked to receive a letter outlining the summary of charges from 15th August to 14th August The charges are quite high in relation to the investment I am a trustee. It seems these charges have always been applied but they have never told investors. It is not that they are charging, it’s that they haven’t been transparent.
I would have thought they should have been telling us this for many years. As the fee was quite high I would have liked to have known in advance, especially since the investment has gone. Shockingly the letter I received did not outline previous payments, can they do that? In addition to the 8 page form I then was asked to send a copy statement of my new bank account and driving licence. I was then called twice to verify further details and 48 hours after sending additional documents and two weeks after making a simple request of my new bank details I struggle to understand how such a stanndard financial institution can reviwws away with such archaic process and abysmal service.
No mention of charges for 25 years! After 25 years with Standard Life I just received today a letter detailing how much in charges they have taken from an investment plan of mine this year, This is the first mention of any charges whatsoever since taking out the policy as a 22 yr old in It also states that standard life investments reviews have always been taken from my plan.
Ok, I understand that charges are needed to manage the plan but it is not acceptable to go two and a half decades and not mention them. Why does an annual statement not detail them if they have been deducted? Very, very underhand!! I would be interested to see if anyone else other than myself and Ruth have just discovered. I was horrified to learn that Standard life have been charging me large fees for a capital investment fund we set up for my daughter 22 years ago.
No charges were ever standarx and now it is law they have to state these to you. The charges were hidden from the statements previously. The Standard Life adviser I spoke agred that this was deceitful too! W shall be closing our account shortly and seeking recompense from the Ombudsman. Fantastic Digital experience! Love the app and the site. My financial adviser is now having trouble with a transaction of money that they were suppose to initiate which means I don’t receive an income from my drawdown pension.
I have been using Standard Life for Employer pensions for quite a while, but they keep showing their incompetence and give me the impression of a highly disorganised company, that struggle to do anything correctly, or accurately, but still charge a premium for their poor service. Save your money, use anyone.
Terrible customer service. I think they need retraining to know that they should put the customer first and not themselves. My financial adviser got the case escalated. They were puzzled that I should ring them about my money. Got a pension with them, not worth much but have to jump through hoops to get it transferred to another pension company, because they didn’t have revlews right NI number,I have to prove who I am at a cost to me, lifw though they have written to me for the past 30 years.
Got it sorted over the phone then they decide not good enough wouldn’t touch them with a badge pole. Avoid at all costs. My wife is trying to access her pension to start her withdrawal after taking a tax free lump sum.
THEN these have to be posted to an address. The company is an utter disgrace and has so far resisted all attempts to access the pension. I worked in stxndard City dealing with anti-money laundering issues for large investment banks. I have been contributing to stakeholder pensions for my children for about 20 years since they were very small, to encourage them to standadd about their future financial arrangements.
They reviewa grown up now and I have retired so we agreed that the time has come for me to stop these payments. The children are lfie making their own independent pension arrangements. I cancelled my direct debits and I phoned Standard Life as a courtesy to inform.
I was on hold for a few minutes before I could speak to a human and when a lady answered the phone we had to go through a series of questions for security purposes. We agreed how to deal with the situation and the lady said she would arrange for a colleague to put a note on the files. I was on hold again for a few minutes until the colleague, another investmejts, answered her phone.
The second lady opened the conversation with «how can I help you» and it transpired that there had been no handover and so I had to start the entire conversation all over again from scratch. Unfortunately, the second lady was completely unhelpful, she contradicted what the first lady had told me and in essence she refused to allow me to inform Standard Life that they will not be able to collect these direct debits in the future.
So I have given one star but would have given zero stars if that were an option. Unhelpful call centre staff, contradictions between two of them within a few minutes, my time and phone minutes wasted, and reivews outcome standard life investments reviews my children might be pestered with unnecessary auto-generated «direct debit refused» correspondence.
This company will not allow customers to be helpful! Onvestments am a sgandard in Standard Life Aberdeen, after this episode and looking at the other reviews it has dawned on me that poor share price performance in recent years may be partly due to this poor and muddled customer service. I am going to sell my shares. They refused to send form even though rsviews did this for my other 3 grand kids and my sons signed and completed and sent me to complete the rest and two years lump sum premium were paid by grand parents.
Standard Life refuse to send form to my son and they insist he calls them as this is new company policy. What a crazy policy they brought in and the amount of business they are turning away as grandparents have all the time and like to put money in for their grand kids for Pension, Junior cash ISA ets. This shows how a senior position person in a big company can make such a bad policy which hurts company to get new business where the funds would be coming for 50 to 65 years.
The company need to look into where they are performing badly and improve their service. Terrible customer service, I was asked for comabining 2 exactly same plans into one and put on hold twice for 20 minutes and never served. Based on simple rule if the comapny cannot provice a simple service it wont provide anything better for future — I will be closing the accounts with.
Then reading the reviews here I am happy this happen now and not near my retimrment. Definetly reccommend to avoid. Thus stajdard to 3 starts. I am still unsure whether it’s their CS issue, or they are obligated to response to complaints by The Regulator. I haven’t still combained my 2 pensions into one as I am not fancy to call them again and wait in a queue but I may need to as it’s their procedure.
The whole company is just based on continual lies being given. They could not even give me contact details of Susan Mcinnes,s the new ceo of pensions now after the pheonix takeover, my case has been running now over 10 years of continual trouble with.
After there last letter in November and now 13 months later they still can not provide the name of a manager even for my MP to contact them who is supposedly do the management decision, is just unacceptable management based on lies. After 19 weeks they can not confirm who they payed commissions to as advisers. Or about after death inheritance for my family. They never advised of the advisers being inevstments off, that payments from HM rev had stopped going to the pension, Management of HM Rev and DWP confirm policy is miss sold.
Fscs tell me about 2 other advisors on my policy that I have never ever been informed of. Then on meeting my MP we find 3 different policy number on gov declarations from the company. They say a Director is looking at it but as this started originally in February But still no answers to either set of issues.
Just finished our 25 year endowment policy with Standard Life and thanks to the Bonus payment and critically the final bonus payment, the sum paid covered the mortgage. Not often I praise a company, but in this instance I feel it is deserved. Thank you. Get to know your customers. Simply claim your company. Get real customer insight and respond to your reviews.
